I'm not denying that the idea of a 2-disk album which tells a story might be a musical. The historical precedent is strong, although largely stems from actual writers of musicals -- Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Chess... all started as concept albums. Even Les Miserables was originally a double-length concept album.

I've simply never heard it referred to as such before.

That isn't pedantry. Either you weren't clear with what you were arguing and I took your words entirely wrong, or something. You said "tells a story through the medium of song = musical". That's how I took it.

Frankly, The Wall is, in my mind, first and foremost an album, second a concert experience, and finally a movie. Perhaps that's not your stance, but seriously... don't accuse me of pedantry just to try to come out on top. I'm doing this in good faith, and feel like the goal posts are being moved.
